Choosing a wedding videographer is for many as personal a decision as selecting a wedding photographer. We each have our own ethos and approach. We choose to capture people at their natural best, without often staging scenarios. Our background as documentary filmmakers have taught us how to capture stories...

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GOLD AND THE PLATINUM PACKAGE?

While our Gold package offers one camera operator and a second static camera this is usually only advisable for smaller weddings where the ceremony and reception take place in the same location. The reason for this being with just myself operating two cameras and several radio microphone the film is more about covering the day (with the odd embellishment where possible).

The Platinum package allows for a far greater volume of coverage as the second camera operator can simultaneously film both the preparations AND the venue exteriors, and again later in the day we can film the photoshoot AND capture more of your guests at the reception. With greater coverage, the entire quality of the film is boosted which allows us to produce our trademark Highlights sequence. With more collaborators it also allows us to feature our other pillar on our success – the cinematic style fluid movement. This is why the Platinum Package remains our best value and most popular package.

HOW DO I KNOW YOU’LL PRODUCE A GOOD QUALITY WEDDING VIDEO?

We hope having seen the quality of our work to date you should have a strong sense of our passion and creativity. We are happy to pass on references from previous clients should you seek an unbiased opinion of our wedding film services.

HOW WILL YOU DRESS ON THE DAY?

We dress smartly, typically wearing shirts and suit jackets to blend in with your wedding guests as well as possible. At all times our aim is to be as non-intrusive as possible.

HOW LONG IS A TYPICAL WEDDING FILM?

The length of our wedding films varies depending largely on the length of the ceremony and the speeches. As a rule of thumb each wedding film is approximately 15 minutes longer than these other two events, so a 30-minute ceremony, plus 30-minute speeches would be a 75-minute film. Essentially the shorter the film the higher quality the finished product as we route out inferior footage and refine the high-quality moments. The shorter the sweeter.

The running time of our films varies depending on the nature of your day. A good rule of thumb to estimate the running time of our feature-length film is to take the wedding service (say 30 minutes) and speeches (say 30 minutes), which we present in close to real-time.
Then add the pre-ceremony + reception + first dance and dance montage sections which typically translates to be around 20 minutes in total – but again is depending on the schedule of the day and the overall volume of footage, which can differ between our 1 or 2 camera operator packages. With only 1 camera operator these sections are typically 5 minutes shorter.

We have produced films from 30 minutes to over three hours, however the average length of our most popular Platinum package film about 80 minutes.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SHOOTING STYLE IS A TYPICAL WEDDING FILM?

Our shooting style is flexible upon how involved you would like us to be during the day’s events. The options are by no means fixed, and most commonly we are as discreet as possible throughout the day. Situations may arise that require we take a more active role in events involving staged moments, however, these are typically sought by our couple. Difficult lighting situations may also require the use of additional lighting. Just let us know if you would prefer a more discreet documentary style or a more involved position where we take greater charge of events. With the exception of the wedding service and the formal speeches, we let the music that you select dictate the tone on the film, and therefore we remove all other audio.

DO YOU USE CONTRACTS?

Yes, it’s normal for professional wedding videographers to ask clients to sign a contract to protect both parties and clarify exactly what is expected to be delivered. Preparation and good communication are vital tools for us to ensure every wedding film is produced as smoothly and professionally as possible. Feel free to view our sample contract which outlines exactly what our responsibilities are.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY WEDDING FILM?

Should we have received your music selections from you before the wedding date please allow up to 16 weeks for delivery of the first look film.
This allows us an appropriate amount of time to edit multiple cameras and finely craft up to 20 hours of footage! The nature of the cameras and our workflow does make this a longer turn around time than some traditional videographers who comparatively film a far lower volume of coverage. We don’t like to hand off a project until we are completely happy with it, and this takes extra attention to detail. We recognise while it only takes us about a week to complete the film, it will be with you for a lifetime, so we take a long view approach and take the time to get things right.

How will our Wedding Film be Delivered?

Each of our packages include delivery on a single USB. If you would like duplicate USB's these are charged at £40 each. The USB is then posted Royal Mail First Class Recorded. Couples must confirm their address before we post out the USB.

WHERE DO YOU TRAVEL TO?

Well from our local church in Corstorphine to international wedding videos we are willing to go as far as you are for perfect memories.
We do have some travel small print with mileage charged at £1.00 per mile after the first 50 miles from our Edinburgh base. As required we may need to charge for accommodation and subsistence for weddings that require us to travel a considerable distance and this will be agreed prior to the booking and charged at the appropriate agreed rate. But for wedding films abroad we’re always happy to negotiate a deal.
