10 Dec Cash for Causes corporate video – Kumho Tyres
Recently we worked on a project for Kumho Tyers: Cash for Causes corporate video. Meggan Dawson-Farrell is celebrating success after winning a bonus £2,000 plus a share of £100,000 thanks to Kumho Tyres? cash for causes campaign. The para-athlete is fundraising to cover the costs of her training and specialist wheelchair racing equipment to secure her place in the 2014 Commonwealth Games Scotland Squad.
Meggan won not only the regional vote which took place at SMS Alloa Ltd, but also managed to tie the voting with Friends of Bude Sea Pool for the national prize – decided by online votes at www.kumhocauses.com.
Originally, the winner of the Cash for Causes online vote was to receive a national grand prize of £2,000 with the runner up receiving an additional £1,000. However, in light of both
Meggan and Bude tying for first place, it was decided Kumho Tyres would top up the prize fund, awarding both parties £2,000 in recognition of the fact they are such worthy winners.
The international company pledged to make a difference in local communities over the summer by donating money to deserving causes. The Cash for Causes initiative saw
Kumho Tyres give away more than £100,000 to deserving local charities, groups and projects, through its ECSTA Performance Centre (EPC) network of independent tyre retail partners. Plus extra bonus prizes of £2,000 and £1,000 were planned to be given to the winner and runner up of an online vote. As the final voting went to the wire with both causes neck and neck, it was decided to call it a tie and split the funds with both receiving £1,500 each!
Andrew Stuart, manager at SMS Alloa Ltd, said: “We nominated Meggan because we just think she?s amazing. Despite having a disability, she doesn?t let it get in her way; she has so much get-up-and-go it?s just inspiring.
“The news Meggan tied for first place in the Cash for Causes campaign is fantastic. I?d like to thank our local community and everyone else who voted for Meggan across the UK for their support. I know she has the qualifiers for the 2014 Commonwealth Games coming up soon, so this money has certainly came at the right time to help with her training costs.” Commenting on the ?Cash for Causes? campaign, Kumho Tyres? marketing director, John
Thrupp, said: “Helping communities and supporting worthwhile causes is part of Kumho?s DNA; Korean companies are very aware of their social responsibilities and work hard to help those in need.
“We?ve been thrilled with the way this campaign has gone, votes were incredibly close to the last moment. Well done to everyone involved, we hope the cash makes a real difference!”
